Back in the early 1960's an industry pioneer began to put his mark on the automotive after-market.  Roland deMarcellus founded ADDCO back in 1961; he dedicated himself to improve the handling and safety of any vehicle. Relying on his Engineering degree from Georgia Tech and extensive automotive background, Roland established a process of "cold forming" pre-hardened bar stock.  Roland also broke new ground as he was the first to utilize polymer bushings in conjunction with anti-sway bars. The dedicated efforts of the ADDCO team, under Rolands's guidance, produced fantastic results as the company flourished for nearly forty years and attained national leadership status.  Beyond creating the largest line of after-market sway bars, Roland's team became the leader on the OEM side too, producing bars that ranged from .625" all the way to 1.500" solid bar.

Though Roland retired in 1999, he is still active as a special project engineer at ADDCO, and regularly assists current management with sound historical advice and wisdom.  Outside of the company he remains active as an author, lecturer, and devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Since Roland's retirement, his son Ed has taken over the helm.  Ed, a savvy designer with award winning patents to his credit, continued to push the company forward.  Through his motorsports and engineering background, Ed has further enhanced the product line, introducing hundreds of new product applications.  ADDCO is now a blend of state-of-the-art equipment and tried and true machinery.  Both the production product line and the OEM sidehave continued to flourish with Ed at the helm.  Many process improvements have been put in place, including an automated powder coating line.  ADDCO's catalog now boasts over 2,000 applications and the OEM side is producing products that are now as large as 2.375" in diameter!

Ed's industry passion annually comes to life as some incredible company vehicles hit the SEMA Show floor.  His hands-on approach has resulted in some remarkable vehicles that not only look fantastic, but they walk the walk too!  Customers and consumers regularly question, "What's this year's vehicle going to be?"

As the economy began to downturn, Ed made the decision to bring in a partner to help steer the company through the rough times he anticipated ahead.  Pulling from an industy icon company, Ed chose Ron Johnson to join ADDCO as the COO and minority partner.  Ron adds another dynamic to the ADDCO team.  He has an extensive industry and racing background and currently is serving SEMA at both the Council and sub-committee levels and NHRA as a Council board member.  Ron's former industry involvement includes sponsor liason work with NASCAR and serving as an industry advisor to Clemson University.

Though Roland is winding down his career, this trio has made the commitment to re-invest in the automotive industry. By adding both equipment and personnel in this difficult economy they remain loyal to their staff and customers alike.  They know they could not do it alone and ADDCO is proud to have the best customer base of loyal distributors and OEM clients that demand and distribute the highest quality products in the industry today.
